11/12 Boys Baseball
League Description : Players play “Major League- style” baseball as we continue to introduce new baseball skills and concepts, with a focus on practicing and learning on-field fundamentals. Pitching mound and “pick-off” are introduced.
Volunteer coaches teach the game. There are regular season standings and a post season tournament. Players attend an evaluation day and teams are created by volunteer managers drafting players in an effort to create parity. Games are scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays with home games starting at 5:00, 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. There are occasional games scheduled with NBI on Tuesday or Thursday as well
Boys ages 11-12 on or before April 30 or entering 5rd Grade.
Players are expected to play within their age bracket. However, an exception may be made for the following:
Consideration for any player that will be 10 on or before the date above, who would like to attempt to “play up” in the Boys 11/12 League will be considered only if pairing with a sibling already playing in the next level they want to play up in, as long as safety is not an issue. Safety concerns will be addressed by the head coach and baseball commissioner. If a child’s safety at the level they are playing in are a concern, the level of their age will be the alternative.

League: If you are new to Suburban Athletics or moving into a new level and not a tournament player, you will need to attend evaluation day.
If you are unable to make evaluation day, please contact the firstname.lastname@example.org. All players in the league will be placed on a team, even if unable to make the evaluation day. However, we highly encourage league players to make the evaluation day, as our goal is to make every team as equally competitive as possible and the evaluation process is a positive experience for players.
Tournament Team: Suburban Athletics traveling baseball is offered for those players interested in competing at a higher level within their age group. Travel teams require a greater commitment in that each participant is expected to attend all practices, games, weekend tournaments and other team activities. Teams will typically have practices 1-2 times per week in addition to them playing on a league team 2 nights a week. The season will include 3-7 weekends over the course of the season. Tryouts are required for travel teams. There will be pitching limitations for travel players that are coming off of a tournament weekend (see league rules for these limitations). The travel players may not all play equally at the discretion of the head tournament coach and Director of Baseball. Based on numbers of players on a tournament team, a “core/rotation” system may be used – please see website for more tournament team details. Tournament families are also expected to complete volunteer requirements for both league as well as additional volunteer requirement for tournament team participation.

Saturday, July 30th-August 1st: Boys End of Year Tournament

What does my child need for the season?
Boys will be provided with a league shirt and baseball hat but will need grey baseball pants, socks, belt batting helmet and glove. Cleats are helpful.
What will be my commitment as a parent to work in Concession stands?
All 9/10 league teams will be expected to cover shifts at O’Hauser Park Concession when you play on Strohmeyer Field. Each team will be responsible to get parents to cover those shifts. Failure to provide parent volunteers on your scheduled day may result in forfeiture of the game.
I have two players in two age groups and one on a traveling team, what are my volunteer obligations?
Volunteer obligations are assigned based on each player.
You will be asked to volunteer in some capacity for both children at the league level, as well as additional volunteer time attached to the tournament player. If your team is scheduled to play at O’Hauser on Strohmeyer Field, you will also be asked to help cover concession stands during your players games, this is in addition to the general league volunteer obligation. We also ask that all players and their families help with Spring clean- up. Many hands make light work. Suburban Athletics is 100% volunteer driven and relies on the assistance of all of our families to help make our organization the best it can be.
